Just less than a month after losing his grandma to Covid-19, KL-based Uzbek actor Daler Yusuf announced his father had also died from the disease. He was 53.
"I guess this is the hardest year (I've had) to endure. Today my father passed away due to Covid-19. There are so many wishes and dreams he had yet to fulfil but I believe Allah loves him more," he shared on Instagram on Sept 4, accompanied by a photo of him and his father.
"May Allah bless his soul and may he be placed among the holy."
He added: "Pray for strength for me and my family."
Daler's father sought treatment at the hospital for more than 10 days before succumbing to the disease. According to Berita Harian, he caught the virus from Daler's grandma, who died on Aug 7.
The 27-year-old, who grew up in a cotton farm in Uzbekistan, first came to Malaysia a decade ago to further his studies.
He has since made a name for himself as a lead actor on various local dramas like Encik Suami Mat Salih Celup.
Daler said in a moving tribute to his grandma: "For every success I've achieved, it may be because of your prayers to Allah. For every strength it took for me to travel far away from home, I carry your strength with me."
