Actor Fadlan Hazim was worried when his fever had not subsided after two weeks.
"Two weeks before Aidilfitri, I had fever. I was worried about getting a fever during the Covid-19 pandemic," Fadlan told Berita Harian.
He saw a doctor and was prescribed antibiotics but still the fever did not let up.
A more thorough check at a hospital later revealed he didn't have Covid-19 but dengue.
"I'm glad the test revealed I didn't have Covid-19 but dengue is dangerous too."
Thankfully, the actor, who starred in numerous local dramas like Papa Ricky, Raisha 2 and KL Gangster: Underworld, has recovered.
"But I'm staying home as much as possible. After fighting dengue, my immune system is vulnerable to infections. I didn't visit anyone during Hari Raya. I stayed connected with my family via video call."
In conjunction with Asean Dengue Day 2020 on June 15, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said dengue cases have recorded an average increase of 8% every week, beginning eight weeks ago.
And the numbers will likely go up in the coming days.
Between January to June 13 this year, there have been 50,511 dengue cases and 88 deaths.
