Zara Zya is doing her part to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Malaysian actress has taken on Kempen RM1 Untuk Misi Prihatin Covid-19, which allows the public to donate funds from as low as RM1 to help frontliners get access to personal protective equipment (PPE), hand sanitisers, surgical masks and so forth.
The campaign – which is under the Pertubuhan Prihatin Tanpa Sempadan initiative, in partnership with the Malaysia Civil Defence Force and its arts and culture brigade – has raised RM30,000 so far.
The 34-year-old personally passed the contributions to the frontliners at a quarantine centre at Alor Gajah, Melaka, recently.
"It's not just about the contributions, it's about giving words of encouragement to these frontliners who have been working day and night," she told mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal.
"When I saw them, they were all in good spirits, despite the fact that some of them haven't gone home for a month now."
Zara says she will continue to do her part and lift up the frontliners, but will do so at intervals.
"We're taking a break now so we don't keep going out. We avoid visiting the red zones and head to the yellow zones only," she talks about the precautionary measures she takes.
"I hope to go to more remote areas next as it's harder for them to get help there."
