A total of 8.1ha of the Kulai Municipal Council's (MPKu) Urban Forest in Johor has been illuminated by 1.7 million LED bulbs, earning a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the largest light festival in a public park.

MPKu president Mohd Fahmi Salam expressed the council's pride in receiving this recognition through the "Luna Lights Wonderland" exhibition.

The record was based on both the size of the venue and the number of lights used.

"Luna Light Wonderland" showcases an array of light installations themed around space, aquatic life, and wildlife. Standout attractions include the Love Tunnel, Star Wars Tunnel, Avatar Tunnel, and the iconic Main Mascot Luna, each offering a unique visual experience.

"For this event, we used about 20 acres (8.1ha) of the 160-acre (65ha) urban forest to display 1.7 million LED bulbs," said Mohd Fahmi at a recent press conference in Kulai.

The exhibition, featuring 70 local vendors, is expected to be extended until Oct 27, aligning with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.

It also serves as a prelude to the Visit Johor Year 2026 festivities. – Bernama
