Feed the poor with Tex-Mex order

Churitto’s Fresh Mex offers wholesome and healthy meals, such as tacos, burrito wraps and bowls, quesadillas and nachos.

A FRANCHISE that serves Tex-Mex cuisine is back with its “Meal for a Meal” initiative, in conjunction with the nation’s 65th National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

Churitto’s Fresh Mex menu offers wholesome meals such as tacos, burrito wraps and bowls, quesadillas and nachos.

All meals are customisable, with choices of protein, condiments and sauces.

“Our food is made from fresh ingredients using the best recipes to create a distinct taste,” said Churitto’s co-founder Pravin Krishnan.

“We highly recommend the guacamole, a creamy avocado- based dip that pretty much goes with everything.”

Churitto’s chief executive officer Keerthana Doraisingam said that for every meal (consisting of a main course and drink) purchased at any of its stores, the company pledged to donate a free meal to someone in need.

“We started the ‘Meal for a Meal’ initiative in May last year during the Covid-19 pandemic and have since given over 20,000 free meals to hospital frontliners, underprivileged families, orphanages and aged-care facilities.

“We worked with a few charity organisations that helped us identify recipients and distribute the meals. We will be working with Soroptomist International Damansara, Kechara Soup Kitchen and Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia this time around,” she said.

On its motivation, Keerthana said the company’s goal was to address the issue of world hunger in the Malaysian context.

“It is a crisis that is very painful to watch, and even worse to endure. It is also our business philosophy to do philanthropic activities, hence this initiative.

“In addition, we gave complimentary taco and drink sets to vaccinated individuals during the initial stage of the national Covid-19 vaccination programme as motivation,” she shared.

The “Meal for a Meal” initiative will run until Sept 16.

Churitto’s has six stores, which are in Publika Shopping Gallery, The Sphere in Bangsar South, Jalan Bangsar and Masjid Jamek LRT Station (Kuala Lumpur) as well as 1 Utama Shopping Centre and 3 Damansara (Petaling Jaya).
