Formosa Prosonic redesignates Cheong Hong Yip as managing director

PETALING JAYA: Formosa Prosonic Industries Bhd has redesignated executive director, Cheong Hong Yip, 58, as its new managing director.

In two separate filings on Bursa Malaysia, the audio products manufacturer said group managing director Shih Chao Yuan, 70, will be redesignated as the company’s non-executive director instead.

Shih, who is a Taiwanese national, had ceased to be a substantial shareholder on Sept 11. He was the company's largest shareholder before gradually paring down his stake from the start of the year.

Holding a 0.39% direct stake and a 0.129% indirect stake in the group, Cheong was first appointed to the board on Aug 4, 2026.

Prior to that, he was the general manager of Formosa Prosonic. Cheong joined the company in the purchasing department and was subsequently trained across several functions within Formosa Prosonic and its manufacturing divisions, including quality control, shipping, production engineering and warehouse management.

Formosa Prosonic closed one sen lower at RM1.04 today.
