SkyeChip’s quarterly performance declines

PETALING JAYA: SkyeChip Bhd, one of Bursa Malaysia’s strongest initial public offering debutants this year, saw first-quarter revenue fall 16% sequentially as sales of silicon intellectual property (IP) reduced.

The Penang-based integrated circuit design company announced yesterday that its revenue for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (1Q27) fell to RM49.6mil from RM58.9mil in 4Q26.

“The decrease was mainly attributable to a lower contribution from the sales of silicon IP by approximately RM7.7mil, mainly due to the timing of project milestones achieved during the current financial quarter compared to the preceding financial quarter,” SkyeChip said in a stock exchange filing.

About 54.6% of the first-quarter revenue was contributed by the United States market, and 42.1% by China.

In line with the lower revenue and higher expenses mainly from employee benefits expenses and one-off listing expenses, SkyeChip’s profit after tax (PAT) declined by nearly 56% sequentially to RM13.9mil in 1Q27 from RM31.47mil in 4Q26.

Excluding one-off listing expenses, SkyeChip said it would have recorded a PAT of approximately RM16.4mil.

Earnings per share for the first quarter were 0.93 sen. No dividend was declared for the quarter.

Looking ahead, SkyeChip believes its prospects remain healthy, supported by favourable long‑term industry trends in areas such as artificial intelligence, high‑performance computing and automotive applications.
