RT Pastry secures Jakim halal certification for manufacturing facility

KUALA LUMPUR: RT Pastry Holdings Bhd has obtained halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) for its central manufacturing facility, Plant 1, in Taman Bukit Serdang, Seri Kembangan, strengthening its position in Malaysia's halal bakery market.

In a statement today, the bakery group said the certification, issued on July 1, is valid until June 30, 2028, and covers a broad range of its products, including cakes, Swiss rolls, pastries, cookies, desserts and other bakery items.

The certification was granted in accordance with the Malaysian Halal Standard MS1500:2019, which sets requirements for sourcing, manufacturing, handling and hygiene to ensure compliance with Islamic dietary standards.

RT Pastry noted that its other plant, Plant 2 in Glenmarie, received JAKIM halal certification in 2023.

“Halal certification is more than a regulatory requirement, it reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, integrity and consumer confidence.

“As we continue to expand our product offerings, we remain dedicated to ensuring that more Malaysians can enjoy RT Pastry products with assurance and peace of mind,” executive director and group chief executive officer Lu Chun-Neng said.

The company said the certification reinforces its efforts to serve a broader customer base while maintaining high standards across its manufacturing operations.
