PETALING JAYA: The government is exploring two potential highway developments through a privatisation approach – a proposed 303.5km southern extension of the West Coast Expressway connecting Banting, Selangor to Gelang Patah, Johor; and a 118.7km route linking Simpang Pelangai in Pahang to Putrajaya.

In a statement, the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) said the move is aimed at optimising cost management and national fiscal efficiency.

KPKT said the decision was made at the 50th meeting of the National Physical Planning Council, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. — Agencies
