PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corp (Bioeconomy Corp) has contributed about RM39.9bil to the country’s economy over the past two decades, says chief executive officer Mohd Khairul Fidzal Abdul Razak.

Via its two flagship programmes, BioNexus Status and the Bio-based Accelerator (BBA), Bioeconomy Corp has facilitated more than RM14.6bil in approved investments, he said in a statement.

This generated over 16,600 jobs across Malaysia, and supported nearly 650 BioNexus Status and BBA companies.

“In 2026, we aim to generate at least RM2.2bil in revenue from BioNexus Status and BBA companies,” said Khairul Fidzal.

Bioeconomy Corp is an agency under the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry. Minister Chang Lih Kang said in 2025, the estimated investment and commercial value that was captured under Bioeconomy Corp’s facilitation increased by nearly 60% to over RM2.44bil.
