SD Plantation rebrands as SD Guthrie

PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (SD Plantation) has received shareholder approval to change its name to SD Guthrie Bhd.

In a statement, the world’s largest palm oil producer by acreage said a special resolution was duly passed at its EGM yesterday with overwhelming support from shareholders, whereby 99.99% voted in favour of the proposal.

SD Plantation chairman Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani said the SD Guthrie branding carried much significance for the company as an organisation.The company will trade on Bursa Malaysia as Sime Darby Plantation Bhd until the registration and approval of the application of the new name are concluded through the Companies Commission of Malaysia.

A total of 80% of SD Plantation is owned by major Malaysian institutions including Permodalan Nasional Bhd, Employees Provident Fund, the Retirement Fund Inc, Lembaga Tabung Haji and Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial or Perkeso.
