Gambit Custody secures approval for DAC licence

PETALING JAYA: Digital asset custodian company Gambit Custody Sdn Bhd has received an in-principle approval from the Securities Commission for its Digital Asset Custodian or DAC licence, pending the fulfilment of regulatory requirements within the next six months.

The company said in a statement that the conditional approval granted yesterday paved the way for it to begin operations, commenting that licensed digital asset custodians had at present emerged as a critical component of the emerging digital asset landscape.

It explained that digital asset custody ensured the safekeeping and secure management of digital assets for a wide range of institutional and enterprise clients.

Gambit Custody said its entry into the digital asset custody sphere represented a groundbreaking shift towards tailored solutions and personalised services within an industry often characterised by standardised offerings.

Outlining his vision for the company, chief executive Datuk Clifford Hii said Gambit Custody was aiming to become the go-to provider for secure digital asset custody in Malaysia and beyond.

“While the digital asset industry is rapidly evolving, we recognise the need for tailored, secure and innovative solutions. To achieve this, we will work closely with regulators, institutions and enterprises to co-create a robust digital asset ecosystem,” he said.
