KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank Group mourns the passing of Datuk Azlan Hashim, a respected former leader whose contributions formed an important part of the group’s history.
In an Instagram post today, AmBank said Azlan began his association with the group on July 5, 1982, when he joined the board of Arab Malaysian Development Bank Bhd, now known as AmInvestment Bank Bhd.
He was subsequently appointed chairman of AmSecurities Sdn Bhd from Oct 10, 1986 to March 3, 2007, and joined the board of AMMB Holdings Bhd
on Feb 12, 1992, serving as deputy chairman until his retirement on Aug 20, 2015.
"Throughout his distinguished career spanning more than three decades with the group, the late Azlan held several key leadership positions across its subsidiaries and related entities,” it said.
AmBank said Azlan also served as a director of Arab Malaysian Eagle Assurance Bhd, now known as AmMetLife Insurance Bhd, from March 1, 1985 to March 28, 2006, including as chairman and deputy chairman during his tenure.
He served as a director of AmBank Islamic from Aug 1, 1994 to Dec 19, 2003, and of AmREIT Managers Sdn Bhd from Aug 24, 2008 to Aug 12, 2015.
In addition, Azlan served on the board of trustees of AmGroup Foundation from its incorporation on Dec 18, 1985.
"His dedicated service, wise leadership and invaluable contributions to the group’s governance, growth and development will always be remembered by the AmBank family.
"We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May Allah SWT forgive his shortcomings, shower him with mercy and place him among the righteous in Jannah,” said AmBank. - Bernama
