LBS Bina Group Bhd is among the businesses awarded the title of Best Managed Companies 2022 (Malaysia) by leading global consulting firm Deloitte.

LBS group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Wira Joey Lim Hock Guan received the award from Deloitte South-East Asia chief executive officer Philip Yuen at an awards ceremony held at the Sunway Resort Hotel in Selangor on Sept 7.

“We are indeed honoured and grateful to receive this prestigious award from Deloitte,” said Lim.

“As a ‘people’s developer’, our focus has always been about the people – firstly, to house most Malaysians and to bring value to communities.

“We couldn’t have done it without the amazing people within LBS. This recognition is a timely inspiration for us to continue to be the best, and to keep progressing. That’s LBS!” he said.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies is a leading business awards programme that has been hosted in more than 37 countries since 1993.

It recognises top privately-owned local companies (including listed entities with majority shares held privately) for their organisational excellence and contributions to the economy.

“Today, 70% of the workforce in LBS is aged 40 years and below. We recognise that our workforce is made up of multi-generations and each of them has their own ideology and mindset,” said LBS executive director Datuk Cynthia Lim.

“Thus, it is crucial for us to understand the dynamics of a multi-generational workforce and work towards narrowing the gap by encouraging discussions and introducing a variety of platforms to speak their mind because no idea is a bad idea.

“Transparency is equally vital in bridging the gap, be it for the company or our employees,” she said during the Building Culture and Commitment session, in which she was a panellist, at the awards night.

LBS was selected by an independent panel of business and academia representatives for its well-defined corporate business strategy and progressive culture of innovation within the workforce.

The judges took into account LBS’ steady performance despite the challenging environment and commitment towards board independence, corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well as sustainability reporting.

On the award, Joey said: “I am extremely humbled to receive this accolade on behalf of LBS. We were up against an exceptional field of companies in Malaysia and to be selected is indeed testament to the group’s efforts throughout the years.

“LBS’ commitment towards environmental, social and governance (ESG) values, CSR and digitalisation is an indication of our willingness to adapt to the ever-changing environment. We recognise the need to remain agile and relevant as we continue our growth story.

“The success of LBS is tied closely to the adoption of the right business strategies and hard work.

“Nevertheless, we are aware there is a lot more to be done and we are excited for LBS’ future in the coming years,” he said.

LBS, an internationally recognised developer with a vision for building and inspiring delightful spaces, is a renowned township developer that has amassed numerous awards through its various developments.

By placing people at the heart of its approach, LBS has been building and shaping the nation’s landscape for over 30 years while continuing to meet the market demands for quality and affordable homes.

The continued success of LBS is attributed to the leadership of executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Hock San, who has been named Property Man of the Year by Malaysia Property Award (formerly known as FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards of Distinction) in 2018 – the gold standard for developers in the real estate industry.

To date, LBS with vast land banks spread across Malaysia will continue to grow in stature and strength, through replicating successful townships such as Bandar Saujana Putra to other parts of Selangor including KITA @ Cybersouth in Dengkil, LBS Alam Perdana in Bandar Puncak Alam and others.

Beyond property development, LBS is venturing into retail management, hospitality and tourism.
