MAA supports Keluarga Malaysia automotive discount voucher initiative

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has commended the efforts by the government in initiating the Keluarga Malaysia automotive discount voucher aimed at helping flood victims.

Under this initiative, discount vouchers of up to RM1,000 for the repair or replacement of private passenger vehicles will be accorded by the government to victims affected by the massive floods.

Whilst participating MAA member companies will offer a discount of at least 25% on the total cost of repair work (including of spare parts and labour charges) as well as free towing service to the nearest authorised service centre for flood-affected vehicles.

“MAA also applauds the government for engaging and listening to the views of the automotive industry players prior to formulating the automotive discount voucher initiative,” it said in a statement.

“This is to ensure that all stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities, and work as a team together in one big family i.e. Keluarga Malaysia to assist the victims promptly.

“It is also in line with the Government’s commitment to ensure a holistic assistance to all those affected by the flood disaster so that they can return to normal life as soon as possible,” it added.

As announced by Finance Ministry recently, affected vehicle owners do not need to make any application to benefit from the discount voucher.

“MAA had been assured by its participating member companies that their authorised service centres would endeavour to expedite the repair process of the affected vehicles, wherever possible and within the mean of each service centre,” it said.

President Datuk Aishah Ahmad said: “On our part, we had urged our MAA members to give their fullest support and cooperation to the authorities.”

“We had also urged our members to expedite the repair process and to lighten the burden of owners of the affected vehicles in the aftermath of this natural disaster.

“The victims are already suffering heavy losses and will need whatever assistance in order to alleviate their suffering,” she added.

Some of the participating MAA member companies like Perodua and Proton have confirmed that they are willing to extend up to 50% discount on the cost of spare parts.
