TNB offers RM4mil assistance for flood victims

TNB chairman Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is providing RM4mil flood relief assistance, with RM2mil to be channeled through Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia.

In a statement Friday, the utility giant said the remaining RM2mil would be channeled directly via its Tabung Warga TNB Prihatin (TWTP).

Chairman Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin said the TWTP was set up in June for TNB employees to contribute to alleviating the burden of those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and it continued to collect funds to help flood victims.

He said the RM2mil was a matching grant and its board of directors had approved a RM500,000 as an advance.

“The RM4mil allocation is on top of the RM40mil emergency fund provided by TNB for rehabilitation works, especially too repair assets and electricity supply infrastructure in the eight flood-hit states," he said.
