Bureau launches Penang guidelines for business events

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has launched the first edition of the “Next Normal Guidelines for Business Events Penang”.

Chief executive officer Ashwin Guna-sekeran said the guideline is a comprehensive document detailing the new standard for organising business events in a world which is still dealing with the Covid-19 crisis.“It was produced by a task force of 29 industry partners to ensure that every aspect in organising business events is covered.

“This guideline proves that Penang is taking the recovery phase seriously, and that we are ready to welcome back events, ” he said in a speech at the launch of the guideline here yesterday.

The event was officiated by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Meanwhile, Penang Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the guideline is based on the feedback and input from the state’s tourism and business events industry players.

“This effort is in line with the state’s move to emphasise on safety and hygiene and regain traveller’s confidence.” — Bernama
