Poh Kong profit rises strongly in 4Q26

PETALING JAYA: Poh Kong Holdings Bhd’s net profit jumped 59.6% year-on-year (yoy) to RM36.20mil in the fourth quarter ended July 31, 2026 (4Q26), from RM22.68mil a year earlier, helped by higher gold prices.

Quarterly revenue rose 3.5% to RM378.36mil from RM365.50mil previously.

“The increase in revenue was due mainly to the surge in gold price during the quarter under review,” Poh Kong said in its financial notes.

“The overall uptrend in gold prices had improved the operating profits in the current quarter under review. The group’s revenue is largely derived from the retail segment,” it said.

For the full financial year, net profit increased 59.7% (yoy) to RM193.37mil from RM121.10mil, while revenue climbed 14.5% to RM1.93bil.

On its outlook, Poh Kong said: “We believe that strong central bank buying, consumer spending and safe haven inflows amid global geopolitical uncertainties will continue to fuel demand for both jewellery and gold investment products.”

The board said it was confident the group had adequate measures in place to meet challenges in the financial year ending July 31, 2027.
