Vantris returns to the black as order book swells

Vantris Energy group chief executive officer Muhammad Zamri Jusoh.

PETALING JAYA: Vantris Energy Bhd posted a net profit of RM75.3mil for its second quarter ended July 31, 2026 (2Q27), compared with a net loss of RM230.8mil a year earlier, marking its third consecutive profitable quarter following its financial restructuring.

Revenue, however, fell 23.1% year-on-year to RM818.5mil from RM1.06bil, but rose 27% from RM645mil in the preceding quarter, driven by higher activities in the engineering and construction and operations and maintenance segments.

Net profit was lower than RM145.8mil in 1Q27, which included a significant insurance claim and settlement.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation stood at RM122mil, compared with RM208mil in the preceding quarter.

Vantris attributed the decline mainly to foreign exchange losses of about RM66mil arising from the strengthening of the US dollar, as well as the insurance claim and settlement recognised in 1Q27.

For the six months ended July 31, Vantris recorded a net profit of RM221.1mil, reversing a net loss of RM708.7mil a year earlier.

Revenue stood at RM1.46bil, down from RM1.87bil.

The group’s order book rose to RM7bil as at end-July from RM5.9bil in 1Q27, while its share of the order book held under joint ventures and associates stood at RM2.7bil.

“This quarter reflects continued progress in rebuilding a more sustainable operating performance.

“Our priority now is to convert our order book into consistent and profitable delivery,” group chief executive officer Muhammad Zamri Jusoh said in a statement.

“Furthermore, we remain focused on strengthening repeatable operating earnings through disciplined project execution, tight cost control and improved asset utilisation.”

As at July 31, cash, deposits and bank balances stood at approximately RM2bil, reflecting a stable liquidity position following the group’s financial restructuring.
