Brunei withdraws approval of BEEP as payment system operator

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The approval granted to BEEP Digital Solutions Sdn Bhd (BEEP) to operate as a payment system operator has been withdrawn with effect from September 30, 2026, the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) stated.

The withdrawal follows BDCB’s supervisory assessment of BEEP’s compliance with regulatory requirements and the subsequent orderly wind-down of its payment services operations.

Following the withdrawal, BEEP is no longer authorised to undertake activities as an approved payment system operator in Brunei Darussalam.

BDCB said it remains committed to safeguarding the integrity and stability of Brunei Darussalam’s payment systems and ensuring that payment system operators operate in accordance with the applicable laws and regulatory requirements. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
