BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Tengku Amalin A’ishah Putri binti Al-Marhum Sultan Ismail Petra, wife of Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi, graced the launch of the Brunei Red Crescent Society’s (BRC) inaugural community-focused Prihatin Padel Series, which began with a Pink Padel Tournament.

The racquet sport tournament aimed at raising breast cancer awareness and bringing together local vendors, volunteers and the public in support of the cause.

The event also sought to raise funds to support underprivileged breast cancer patients undergoing treatment at The Brunei Cancer Centre, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed annually in October.

High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, the guest of honour, presented prizes to the winners in the Beginner and Open categories.

The Padel tournament concluded with Team Chilli Padel taking the top spot in the Open Category followed by Team-mu in second and NZ in third while the beginner category was won by Zim and teams Love &Lob and She’s Always Right in second and third respectively.

The initiative highlights BRC’s role as an auxiliary humanitarian organisation in supporting national public health and strengthening community resilience through awareness campaigns, caregiving support and strategic health partnerships with government agencies and private-sector hospitals.

BRC is expected to organise the Prihatin Padel Series quarterly, with each event supporting different causes that champion and advocate for vulnerable members of the society. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
