Cambodian king, queen mother return after routine medical visit to Beijing


PHNOM PENH: Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and his mother, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, returned home safely on Wednesday afternoon (Sept 30) after a month-long trip to Beijing, China, for routine medical check-ups.

Their arrival at Techo International Airport was broadcast live on the state-run National Television of Cambodia (TVK).

The footage showed Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, other national leaders and Chinese diplomats welcoming the royal family.

The 73-year-old monarch travels to China twice a year for health monitoring by specialised Chinese medical teams. - Xinhua
