YANGON: Car prices in Myanmar have increased by 10 to 20 per cent amid rising demand in the domestic automobile market, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday (Sept 28).

Citing the Myanmar Automobile Manufacturer and Distributor Association, the report said demand has slightly outpaced supply, contributing to the price increases.

Demand has been driven in part by a programme allowing owners to surrender older vehicles, including those more than 20 years old, and purchase new ones, according to the association.

Vehicle prices have risen by 10 to 20 per cent, with increases affecting both fuel-powered and electric vehicles, it said.

Transaction prices vary depending on the vehicle model, production year and overall condition, the report said. - Xinhua
