Almost a million Myanmar pearls produced in April-August period


YANGON: Myanmar Pearl Enterprise stated that more than 900,000 pearls were produced between April and August of 2026, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Friday (Sept 4).

Pearl cultivation is carried out across the marine area spanning Kawthaung, Myeik, and Kyunsu townships in Tanintharyi region, the report said, adding that Myanmar mainly produces South Sea pearls.

The enterprise plans to hold two international pearl auctions and two domestic sales events during this fiscal year, it said. - Xinhua
