TVS brings top local music award show 'AIM25' to Kuching for the first time in history

For the first time in its 25-year history, Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM), Malaysia’s most prestigious music awards platform and a benchmark for excellence in the nation’s music industry since 1993, will make history as its Silver Jubilee edition, AIM25, takes centre stage at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak, on September 26.

Marking the first-ever AIM celebration outside Peninsular Malaysia, this historic move represents a significant milestone in the evolution of Malaysia’s music industry. Beyond expanding the nation’s highest platform for musical recognition, AIM25 will shine a spotlight on the diverse voices, cultures and creative expressions that define Malaysia’s vibrant musical landscape.

For this landmark edition, TVS, as the Official Broadcaster and Co-Host of AIM25, will bring the prestigious celebration from Kuching to audiences nationwide through television broadcasts, digital platforms, and free streaming via TVS Inspire.

Established by the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) in 1993, Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) has grown into Malaysia’s most respected platform for recognising excellence among artistes, songwriters, producers, musicians and creative professionals who have shaped the country’s music landscape.

As the organisation representing music recording rights holders in Malaysia and a member of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), representing the global recording industry across more than 70 countries, RIM continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening and advancing Malaysia’s music ecosystem.

Celebrating its 25th edition, AIM25 is more than an awards ceremony. It represents the journey of Malaysia’s music industry, one that continues to evolve, embrace diversity and create opportunities for different genres, languages and cultural identities to be recognised.

The selection of Kuching as the host city for AIM25 marks a defining moment in the history of Malaysia’s music industry.

More than just a venue, Kuching becomes a symbolic meeting point where Malaysia’s diverse musical voices converge, connecting talents and creative works from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak on one prestigious national stage.

Hosting AIM25 in Sarawak also highlights the state’s growing capabilities as a destination for large-scale arts, cultural and entertainment events, while creating new opportunities to strengthen the creative economy, tourism sector and regional event industry.

At the same time, this historic edition provides greater recognition and visibility for talents from across the country, reaffirming that Malaysia’s musical identity is built upon diverse cultures, stories and voices.

In conjunction with its Silver Jubilee celebration, AIM25 introduces two new award categories that reflect Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage and evolving music landscape.

The “BEST BORNEO SONG” category recognises outstanding musical works that celebrate the rich cultures, languages, traditions and unique identities of Sabah and Sarawak, highlighting the creativity and spirit of Borneo’s communities.

Meanwhile, the “BEST FESTIVE SONG” category honours musical works that capture the joy, values and traditions of Malaysia’s multicultural celebrations, while promoting unity and togetherness across communities.

The introduction of these categories reinforces AIM’s commitment to ensuring that Malaysia’s music industry continues to evolve alongside the nation’s diverse cultural expressions.

AIM25 also receives strategic support from government stakeholders, reflecting the music industry's important role as a key contributor to Malaysia’s creative economy.

Through the Ministry of Communications, a total of RM950,000 in the Recognition Fund will be awarded to winners across 16 AIM25 categories through development allocations administered by MyCreative Ventures (MyCV).

This support underscores the government’s continued commitment to nurturing artistic excellence, strengthening the creative ecosystem and recognising the contributions of Malaysian music practitioners.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP Sarawak) will further support AIM25 through the Sarawak MTCP Tourism Event Grant, reinforcing Sarawak’s ambition to establish itself as a leading destination for arts, culture and creative events at both national and regional levels.

Since its establishment in 2020, TVS has evolved from a local broadcaster championing Sarawak’s stories, culture and aspirations into a trusted national platform connecting Malaysians through meaningful content.

As Malaysia’s only television station broadcasting news in four languages - Bahasa Malaysia, English, Iban and Mandarin - TVS continues to celebrate the country’s diversity through inclusive programming that reflects the voices and experiences of its communities.

TVS’ expanding influence is reflected through its nationwide reach, recording 93.1 million television views and 403 million digital and social media views across Malaysia in the first quarter of 2026.

As one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing free-to-air (FTA) channels, TVS continues to broaden its accessibility through TVS 122 via MYTV, Unifi TV and Astro, alongside its free streaming platform, TVS Inspire.

As the Official Broadcaster and Co-Organiser of AIM25, TVS will bring the nation’s most prestigious music awards ceremony live from Kuching to audiences across Malaysia.

Further strengthening AIM25’s broadcast ecosystem, CATS FM has been officially announced as the Official Radio Partner for the Silver Jubilee edition of the awards. In line with the shared vision of bringing AIM25 closer to audiences across Sarawak and Malaysia, CATS FM will play a key role in amplifying the excitement leading up to the awards through a series of on-air promotions, exclusive coverage and special content across its radio platforms.

As a radio station deeply connected with the heartbeat of the Sarawak community, this collaboration not only expands AIM25’s reach to listeners throughout the state but also complements its television, digital and streaming platforms, ensuring that the stories behind Malaysia’s most prestigious music awards reach an even wider audience nationwide.

Leading up to the AIM25 grand celebration, TVS will present “Hits 122 Edisi AIM25”, a 13-episode weekly series offering audiences a closer look at the stories, works and creative talents behind Malaysia’s music industry.

Premiering on 25 July 2026, every Saturday at 8.30 PM on TVS 122, the programme will feature AIM’s rich history, stories of past winners, shortlisted nominees, musical works and the creative minds behind the nation’s music scene.

The programme is developed around six key objectives: Promote, Excite, Educate, Highlight, Engage and Elevate, aimed at expanding the reach of local music while strengthening audience engagement ahead of AIM25.

“TVS is honoured to be appointed as the Official Broadcaster and Co-Host of AIM25. We began as the voice of Sarawak, bringing the stories, culture and music of our nation together through four languages rarely found under one broadcasting platform," said Mohamad Sardon Zainal, Chief Media Officer of TVS.

"When AIM, Malaysia’s most prestigious music awards platform, chose Kuching as the location for its Silver Jubilee celebration for the first time, it represented more than an honour. It is a recognition that the voice of Sarawak is now also the voice of Malaysia.

"Through AIM25 and Hits 122 Edisi AIM25, TVS hopes to bring audiences closer to the journeys of our creative talents while introducing Malaysia’s music industry and artistes to a wider audience through television, digital platforms and TVS Inspire."

Meanwhile, Rosmin Hashim, Chairman of RIM & AIM, said that AIM25 holds special significance as we celebrate the Silver Jubilee of an awards platform that has played an important role in recognising the talent, creativity and dedication of Malaysia’s music practitioners.

"Throughout its 25 editions, AIM has continued to evolve alongside the changing landscape of the nation’s music industry.

"We appreciate the support from the Ministry of Communications, MTCP Sarawak, as well as the collaboration with TVS as the Official Broadcaster and Co-Host of AIM25 in making this historic edition possible. Together, we will celebrate Malaysian music and continue inspiring the growth of our creative industry," he said.

AIM25 will take place on Sept 26, 2026, at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak and will be broadcast on TVS 122 (MYTV, Unifi TV & Astro), with streaming available via TVS Inspire.
