The AIM25 gala event makes history in Sarawak

The 25th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM25) drew the curtain on a spectacular Silver Jubilee celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), bringing together leading music stars, industry professionals and emerging talents for a historic night in Sarawak.

Marking 25 years of recognising excellence and achievement in Malaysia’s music industry, AIM25 made history as the prestigious awards ceremony was held in Kuching, Sarawak for the first time. The landmark occasion was further graced by the presence of the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

As the official broadcaster and co-organiser, TVS brought the AIM25 awards night to audiences via TVS Channel 122 and the TVS Inspire app, while the special Hits 122 Edisi AIM25 series received an overwhelming response. This allowed more music fans to witness significant moments from Malaysia’s music industry from Bumi Kenyalang.

The broadcast of AIM25 also showcased TVS’s capabilities as a Sarawak-based television station in bringing a national-scale event to audiences across the country, further extending the reach of this historic celebration.

The AIM25 awards ceremony was broadcast live on TVS Channel 122 and the TVS Inspire app.

Hosted by husband-and-wife duo Awal Ashaari and Scha Alyahya, alongside TVS personality Sheera Abang Mansur, the evening unfolded with a dynamic showcase of Malaysian music across generations and genres.

The AIM25 stage featured special performances by some of the country’s most celebrated artistes and regional entertainers, including Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Adira Suhaimi with Anggrek, Akim Ahmad, Alena Murang, Marsha Milan, Hael Husaini, Mimifly, Hujan, Estranged and Fajar Noor.

From pop and rock to hip hop, ethnic and traditional music, the performances reflected the diversity of Malaysia’s musical landscape, while placing Borneo’s distinctive cultural and musical identity firmly in the spotlight.

Mimifly emerged as one of AIM25’s most celebrated winners, taking home five trophies throughout the evening.

Her winning streak included Best Music Video and Best Electronic/Dance Pop Song for “Temberang”, Best Musical Arrangement in a Song for “Nara”, as well as Best Festive Song and the Online Award – Highest-Grossing Song on TikTok for “Serumpun”.

Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza also enjoyed a remarkable evening, securing four awards. She won Best Female Vocal Performance for “Kesuma”, Best Collaboration Between Local and International Artiste/Songwriter for “Cenderamaya”, as well as Best Traditional Song and Best Song for “Pesanan Buat Diri”.

The selection of “Pesanan Buat Diri,” written by Aubrey Suwito and Datuk Habsah Hassan for Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, as Best Song is a testament to how works shaped by the meticulous craftsmanship and enduring legacy of experienced music industry figures continue to remain relevant in today’s musical landscape, including in an era increasingly influenced by the tastes of Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

Meanwhile, Aisha Retno took home three major awards, winning Best Album and Best Album Recording for [RE.HAB], in addition to Best Local English Song for “O.R.B.I.T”.

One of the defining moments of AIM25 was the introduction of the new Best Borneo Song category, recognising works that embody the distinctive musical identity and creative spirit of Borneo.

Mawat became the first-ever recipient of the category, winning for “Dayang Bintang”. The historic achievement added further significance to an edition of AIM that was being staged in Sarawak for the first time.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, the win by a Sarawak-born singer on home soil further celebrated the wealth of talent and creativity emerging from Borneo.

The ceremony also celebrated one of Malaysia’s most enduring music icons, with Ella receiving the prestigious Sri Wirama Award in recognition of her longstanding contribution and remarkable journey in the Malaysian music industry.

The pre-award categories further highlighted the creative talent behind Malaysia’s music releases.

Best Single/Album Cover was won by Aidil Saleh for Marsha Milan’s Misompuru, while Best Musical Arrangement in a Song went to Mimifly for “Nara”. Mimifly also won Best Festive Song for “Serumpun”, while Aisha Retno received Best Album Recording for [RE.HAB]. Best Song Recording was awarded to Akim & The Majistret for “Gasoline”.

The online categories recognised the changing ways audiences discover and consume music. Most Streamed Song went to Naim Daniel & Adnin Roslan for “Seni Berdamai Dengan Takdir”, while Highest-Grossing Song on TikTok was awarded to Mimifly for “Serumpun”.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Most-Watched Official Music Video on a Major Video Platform was won by Hael Husaini & Nadeera for “Meriah Lain Macam”.

The prestigious awards ceremony, held on 26 September, continued to capture viewers’ attention, with the AIM25 Event Night and Red Carpet, including promotional content across TVS’ social media platforms, recording a total of 24.5 million views and engagements across all TVS platforms.

The figure underscores TVS’ capabilities as a multi-platform media organisation in bringing a national-scale event from Sarawak to a wider audience. Beyond television broadcast, content on TVS Inspire and social media also allowed audiences to continue following, watching and sharing memorable moments from AIM25 even after the event had concluded.

The AIM25 Event Night recorded the longest trophy presentation broadcast in the history of AIM, running for approximately four hours, excluding the one-hour-and-30-minute Red Carpet, which began at 7.30pm.

To give viewers who missed the awards show or wish to relive the performances and special moments from AIM25 another opportunity to watch the event, TVS will rebroadcast AIM25 on 2 October 2026 (Friday) at 11.00pm and 4 October 2026 (Sunday) at 7.30am. The repeat broadcasts will be available on TVS Channel 122 and the TVS Inspire platform.

According to TVS Chief Executive Officer, Kushairi Abang, AIM25’s staging in Sarawak represented an important opportunity to bring the achievements of Malaysia’s music industry closer to audiences throughout the country.

“We see the staging of AIM25 in Sarawak as an important moment for TVS to bring the excitement and achievements of Malaysia’s music industry closer to audiences nationwide, while also highlighting local talents and works, particularly from Sarawak and Borneo, on the national stage.

“As the official broadcaster, we hope AIM25’s staging in Sarawak will mark the beginning of more collaborations between TVS and the music industry, while creating greater opportunities for local talents and works to gain wider national exposure.

"AIM25 successfully brought to life the aspirations of the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) and TVS in elevating Malaysia’s music industry, while providing a broader platform to showcase the works, talents and artistic expressions of Borneo to audiences nationwide."
