The Kuala Lumpur Durian Experience Centre (KLDEX) will officially open to the public on July 4, marking the launch of Asia’s first and largest integrated durian experience centre.
Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia, KLDEX is co-founded by Ang Kean Wee and Edison Ang Wei Phang and developed by leading Malaysian durian retail and export company MyBolehBoleh.
Since its establishment in 2023, MyBolehBoleh has actively promoted Malaysian durians to the international market and has gained recognition for its efforts in advancing local durian culture and the wider industry.

Positioned as Malaysia’s leading durian education and experiential hub, KLDEX invites visitors on a journey through time to explore the distinctive origins and development of Malaysian durians through rare historical archives, interactive exhibits and immersive content.
The exhibits will also present early European and Chinese historical references to durian, allowing visitors to rediscover this iconic Malaysian fruit from cultural and historical perspectives.
In addition to its engaging historical displays, KLDEX features a durian orchard experience zone that recreates the atmosphere of a Malaysian countryside orchard.
Visitors will be able to learn up close about the growing environment of durian trees, orchard ecosystems and the cultivation methods used for local durians.

“Our vision is to safeguard Malaysia’s durian cultural heritage and to systematically document the stories behind distinctive Malaysian durian varieties such as D24, Musang King and Black Thorn,” said Edison Ang, Founder of MyBolehBoleh and Co-founder of KLDEX.
“Although Malaysian durians are renowned around the world, these precious stories are rarely told in full. If they are not preserved in time, they may gradually be forgotten.”
Meanwhile, Ang Kean Wee added that their main goal is to show the world that Malaysian durians are among the best in the world.
"Our durians have always been said to be among the very best. Our Musang King is also world-famous. But we also have other varieties that I believe can push up the image of our durians and ultimately the country. Many tourists just love the durian fruit, and now they have a centre in the very heart of the city and can enjoy the fruits at any one time."
Beyond the museum gallery, KLDEX also houses an immersive theatre that presents Malaysia’s diverse and intricate durian culture through a stage performance combining drama, creative choreography, rap and melodic music.

Located below the museum gallery, the retail and food-and-beverage space will offer a curated selection of food, drinks, and souvenirs specially developed for KLDEX, reflecting Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and durian flavours.
From durian tarts to durian coffee, visitors and culinary enthusiasts can discover a wider, more diverse durian-tasting experience.
With the opening of KLDEX, Malaysia welcomes its first experience centre dedicated to durian culture. KLDEX is expected to become one of the must-visit cultural destinations for domestic and international tourists, while adding fresh content and appeal to Malaysia’s thriving tourism industry.
In the future, KLDEX also plans to introduce curated durian orchard tours, giving visitors the opportunity to enter countryside orchards and further experience the complete Malaysian durian journey from farm to table.
