Keeping Brunei's human trafficking awareness in focus

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Human Trafficking Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), conducted an awareness roadshow on trafficking in persons (TIP) at the High Commission of Bangladesh in Berakas recently to enhance awareness and strengthen initiatives to combat human trafficking in the country.

The briefing was delivered by Head of the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit Deputy Superintendent of Police Anis @ Roszaffina Ahmad, which aimed to educate and raise awareness among participants on how to identify potential victims of human trafficking in the country.

Law enforcement agencies and frontline personnel, particularly staff of the high commission, were urged to remain vigilant and proactive in identifying Bangladeshi workers in Brunei who may be vulnerable to exploitation or may have become victims of human trafficking.

The RBPF emphasised that the cooperation of all stakeholders is essential in supporting efforts to prevent, detect and combat human trafficking.

Collective action and shared responsibility are crucial in assisting the authorities in addressing and eradicating this crime.
