Myanmar to export 1,800 tonnes of corn directly to Thailand in June

YANGON: Myanmar’s Pathein Industrial Port is set to directly export 1,800 tonnes of corn to Ranong Port in Thailand in June, according to local authorities.

A presentation on the export plan was held on May 22 at the Ayeyarwady Region Government Office. The event was attended by regional Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, government officials, and company representatives.

Officials from Strategy Win Trading Co, Ltd said the company, in cooperation with AEG Company, will export corn produced in the Ayeyarwady Region through Pathein Industrial Port.

They also discussed plans to directly export rice from the port to the Philippines and reviewed Myanmar’s annual corn export situation.

Regional authorities said Ayeyarwady Region, as a major agricultural area, is working to expand overseas exports of agricultural and fishery products. The government also aims to improve electricity supply, boost the regional economy, and develop Pathein Industrial Port into a gateway for both exports and imports. - Eleven Media/ANN
