BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 127 students who completed the Pre-Vocational Programme for the 2021–2025 session, along with five retired Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers, were honoured at the Pre-Vocational Programme Certificate Presentation Ceremony Tuesday (May 26).
The ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Education through the Department of Special Education. Legislative Council member Isa Aliuddin was the guest of honour.
The event began with a welcoming speech by Acting Director of the Department of Special Education Dr Mustazah Maidin, who also served as chairperson of the ceremony.
Certificates of appreciation and souvenirs were presented to six companies in recognition of their continued support in providing work placements for Pre-Vocational Programme students.
The five-year programme is a specialised secondary education pathway designed for students with special educational needs in selected government secondary schools.
It aims to equip learners with essential life and vocational skills, including functional academics, communication, self-management and work-based competencies, guided by Individualised Education Plans tailored to each student’s abilities.
The initiative supports Brunei Vision 2035, particularly in developing educated, highly skilled and successful citizens, while aligning with the Ministry of Education’s commitment to delivering quality and inclusive education.
In conjunction with the ceremony, an exhibition was also held showcasing students’ works from 18 government secondary schools.
The displays included handicrafts, food and beverage products and agricultural produce, highlighting the practical skills gained through the programme. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
