BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The public can visit Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Berhad’s (BIBD) ‘Malam Bintang Perayaan’ pop-up market featuring over 30 local vendors offering a diverse range of products, services and festive offerings at the BIBD Connects TMJE and TMJE Car Park areas following the official launching ceremony on Friday (July 24).
As a community marketplace, the pop-up market aims to support and empower local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through greater market access, visibility and growth opportunities.
BIBD Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Yusri Wahsalfelah officially launched the event at BIBD Connects TMJE.
The initiative, taking place until Aug 9, from 4pm to midnight, is held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 80th Birthday Celebration.
Malam Bintang Perayaan reflects BIBD’s loyalty and appreciation for the Ruler’s leadership and enduring commitment to the nation’s development.
Through the initiative, BIBD aims to further enliven the national celebration while creating opportunities for local businesses and communities to come together.
The bank also recognises the Sultan’s farsighted vision in championing entrepreneurship and empowering MSMEs as an important pillar of Brunei Darussalam’s economic growth and diversification efforts.
This commitment was reaffirmed in the monarch’s titah during the 80th Birthday Celebration, where His Majesty emphasised that “the government will continue to support young people seeking to venture into and expand entrepreneurship across all sectors. Insya Allah, I will continue to lead the nation towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035, which promises a nation that is advanced, sustainable and resilient, with the unwavering support to all”.
Inspired by this national vision, BIBD remains committed to supporting the growth of local enterprises through initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation and business sustainability.
As a key community initiative under BIBD Connects, Malam Bintang Perayaan provides local businesses with direct access to consumers during one of the year’s most vibrant festive periods, enabling participating entrepreneurs to increase visibility, strengthen customer relationships and explore new commercial opportunities.
Through such efforts, BIBD continues to create accessible platforms for grassroots enterprises and youth-led ventures to thrive, contributing towards a more resilient, innovative and sustainable economy in support of Brunei Darussalam’s long-term development aspirations. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
