BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The new Chargé d’Affaires at the United States (US) Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Laura Brown met with members of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumni at the ‘IVLP Legacy Network – 250 Years Forward’ event on Tuesday (Sept 8) evening.

The event is aimed for members of IVLP Alumni and US embassy to reconnect, share ideas, and continue building an alumni community that drives positive change.

In her opening remarks, she shared, “Just last month, Brunei and the United States held our inaugural Brunei-US. Strategic Dialogue, a milestone that reflects the growing depth and ambition of our bilateral relationship.

“It was a powerful reminder that our partnership is not only government to government-it is community to community, and alumni like you embody the spirit of collaboration that drives us forward.”

Looking ahead, she highlighted, “2027 marks the 50th anniversary of US–Asean relations, a celebration of five decades of regional cooperation, shared growth, and enduring friendship.

“As we approach this historic milestone, your experiences, insights, and continued engagement will play a vital role in shaping how our countries work together in the years to come.”

She also expressed, “I am deeply honoured to begin my service at a time when Brunei celebrates the Sultan’s Diamond Jubilee on the throne – a remarkable achievement that reflects stability, leadership, and the unity of the Bruneian people.” – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
