BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Thirty-five registered tour guides gained a better understanding of regulations and basic Islamic practices during a training session hosted by the Department of Tourism Development in cooperation with the Islamic Dakwah Centre (PDI).

The training session aimed to increase the participants’ understanding and awareness of basic Islamic practices as well as the principles of syariah law in Brunei, and to help registered tour guides deliver accurate and appropriate information while carrying out their duties and interacting with tourists and communities from various backgrounds.

It also sought to provide tour guides with a general understanding of the main practices in Islam, such as prayer, fasting and wudhu, while also explaining their importance in the daily lives of Muslims.

The training reflected the Department of Tourism Development‘s commitment in ensuring that licensed tour guides possess a basic understanding of Islamic practices in Brunei so that the services delivered are not only competent and professional, but also reflect the nation’s identity, which is based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy and community harmony.
