SYDNEY: A teenage boy has been arrested after his mother was killed and his sister was seriously injured in a suspected domestic violence stabbing in Western Australia (WA) on Tuesday morning.
The WA police force said that officers were called to a home in the southeastern suburbs of Perth around 6:25 a.m. on Tuesday, where they found the body of a 35-year-old woman.
A crime scene was established, and a 12-year-old girl, who fled the home, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being found by members of the public in a neighboring suburb.
Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo told reporters that the woman's and the girl's injuries were consistent with stab wounds.
She said that a 16-year-old boy, the son of the deceased woman and brother of the 12-year-old, was arrested by police at the home.
"While the investigation remains in its early stages, police are investigating this as a suspected family violence homicide," Securo said.
"This incident will have a significant impact on the family, friends and loved ones of all those involved."
Crime scenes have been established at the home and the location where the girl was found, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. - Xinhua
