BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Employee Trust Fund (TAP), through its Retirement Services Unit, continued its outreach efforts under the 10 Years to Retirement Programme, held on April 30 at the Theatre Hall, Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) Building, Bandar Seri Begawan.

This programme is part of TAP’s ongoing initiatives targeted at members who are expected to retire within the next 10 to 15 years (aged 45 and above).

One of the key objectives of the programme is to raise awareness on the importance of early retirement planning to achieve the desired retirement lifestyle.

It also aims to facilitate the participant’s access to institutions that can support more structured financial planning, enhance vigilance against fraud and foster a community that supports one another throughout their retirement planning journey.

Throughout the programme, TAP presented key factors central to successful retirement planning, such as setting retirement income goals by identifying future needs and determining the actions that should be taken now to achieve those goals.

TAP also highlighted Voluntary Contributions, which allow members to increase their savings in the SPK Member Account as an effort to strengthen their retirement funds for future use.

TAP also emphasised that withdrawals made before retirement age, although they may address certain needs, will reduce the amount of savings available.

The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank was also invited to deliver a session on current financial issues, with emphasis on financial scams, safe investment practices and the importance of making prudent and well-informed financial decisions.

Participants also visited financial exhibition booths that provided information on retirement-related products and services.

TAP also facilitated on-site registration for e-Amanah, an online service portal that allows members to check their latest SPK account balance and access TAP’s services conveniently and efficiently.

This session brought together officers and staff from the MoFE, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Maybank. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
