Sixteen killed, 21 injured as truck overturns in Myanmar's Naypyitaw

YANGON, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Sixteen people were killed and 21 others were injured when a six-wheeled vehicle carrying bamboo overturned in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on Saturday, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

The accident occurred after the driver of the six-wheeled vehicle lost control of its speed and overturned in Ottara Thiri township at around 1:50 p.m. local time, the report said.

There were 38 people on board the vehicle when the accident occurred, it said.

Local fire service personnel and rescue organizations transported the deceased and injured to Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital, it added. - Xinhua
