BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) responded to a bush fire that spread to an unoccupied house in the Jalan Jerudong Baru area, Sengkurong on Sunday (March 29).

The cause of the fire was due to unattended burning, the FRD said.

According to the FRD, two fire engines from Jerudong Fire Station with a team of eight firefighters led by Acting Deputy Fire Station Officer Alinor Mohd Zaini were deployed to combat the fire.

Upon arrival, it was found that a large fire which had started as a bush fire had spread to an uninhabited old house.

Firefighters acted immediately to extinguish the fire using one 64-millimetre (mm) to 38mm jet hose with five hose lines. Water was sourced from a nearby fire hydrant, with a water relay system to the fire engines.

The estimated losses are still under investigation. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
