Woman arrested in Brunei prostitution raid

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN; The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has arrested a 39-year-old local woman suspected of engaging in prostitution during a raid in Sengkurong on Tuesday (March 31).

The operation, carried out at about 4.28pm, was led by the Criminal Investigation Department’s Gambling Suppression and Vice Prevention Unit (USPPPM) following public tip-offs and police surveillance.

A team of nine officers, headed by Acting USPPPM Chief ASP Norsuraya Marusin, conducted the raid at a rented room along Jalan Paya Bunga Merah, where the suspect was detained.

Police also seized several items believed to be linked to the illegal activity. The suspect and confiscated items were taken to the USPPPM office for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 294A of the Penal Code, Chapter 22. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
