MANILA: Transport group Piston will hold a transport strike starting Thursday, March 19.

Piston National President Mody Floranda announced this in a press conference at Welcome Rotonda in Quezon City on Tuesday.

“On March 19, we will launch a protest not only in the National Capital Region but throughout the country against the Marcos administration’s inaction in curbing the rising price of petroleum,” Floranda said.

He also said they will file a petition for a P5 increase in the jeepney fare.

Floranda emphasised that should the price of diesel reach P120 per liter, a driver who consumes 30 liters per day will lose P3,600.

He also urged Congress to abolish VAT and excise tax on fuel. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
