BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Community Development Department (JAPEM) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) held the International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 with the launch of the Executive Summary Publication of the Research on Women’s Development in Brunei Darussalam at Dar Al-Intishar, Jerudong Sports Complex.

JAPEM Acting Director Fauziah Mohd Salleh as Chairperson of the ceremony, in her welcoming remark said that the International Women’s Day celebration serves as an important platform to recognise the contributions and achievements of women across various fields of national development.

She emphasised that this year’s theme, ‘Protect, Enable and Empower: Advancing Women in Society’, reflects Brunei’s commitment to strengthening the protection, well-being and development opportunities for women and girls.

She also highlighted the findings of the Research on Women’s Development in Brunei, which indicate encouraging progress in women’s participation in education and the workforce.

At the same time, the research underscores the importance of strengthening support for working women while recognising the vital role of women within the family and the wider community.

The findings will also serve as a foundation for the development of the 2026-2030 Women’s Plan of Action aimed at further empowering the role of women in the family, community and national development.
