Programme fosters identity, leadership among Brunei youth

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The First National Civic Programme of Brunei Darussalam for the 2025/2026 session concluded with a Certificate Presentation Ceremony for 48 participants at the Information Department on Saturday (Dec 13).

The ceremony was officiated by acting director of Information Siti Bismi Nuruliman Awang Emzah.

Head Participant of the Civic Programme Muhammad Naji Merali, a graduate of Al-Azhar University, Egypt, said that the briefings and visits organised under the programme were comprehensive and holistic in helping to strengthen the participants’ sense of identity and enhance their knowledge.

Throughout the programme, participants attended briefings delivered by the Information Department, the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Syariah Affairs Department, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Wawasan Brunei Office, and the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).

Participants joined group activities and sharing sessions, as well as visits to institutions and organisations, including the Department of Adat Istiadat Negara (JAIN), the Royal Brunei Police Force’s Museum, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Muara International Fish Landing Sdn Bhd (MIFL).

As part of the programme’s spiritual component, congregational prayers were also observed.

The programme also featured sharing sessions with local entrepreneurs. In addition to providing understanding and information on the nation’s philosophy, aspirations, and goals, the programme was designed to prepare future generations before they enter the workforce by exposing them to values of nationhood, leadership, and social responsibility. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
