Brunei forum explores responsible use of AI

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The School of Business and Economics at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBDSBE) hosted a forum titled ‘AI in Academia and Office: The Responsible Way Forward’ yesterday at the Senate Room, Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

It provided a platform for meaningful discussion on the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic and professional environments.

As AI technologies continue to evolve rapidly, the event explored how these tools can be applied responsibly and ethically in education, research and workplace practices.

Present as the guest of honour was UBD Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Noor Azam Othman.

The event began with welcoming remarks by UBDSBE Dean Dr Wardah Azimah, who emphasised the importance of using AI responsibly while maintaining critical thinking, integrity and accountability among future professionals.

Organised as a collaborative initiative between the UBDSBE Strategic, Dynamics and Innovation Research Cluster and the student-led Project Management module, the forum brought together academics, industry practitioners and students to exchange perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of AI.

The half-day forum featured a panel discussion with invited speakers from academia and industry, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

Participants gained insights into responsible AI practices while engaging in forward-looking discussions on the future of AI in learning and professional settings.

The forum reflects the commitment of UBDSBE to fostering critical dialogue on emerging technologies and their impact on education and society, while emphasising the importance of balancing innovation with ethical responsibility. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
