Myanmar's Yangon Region Investment Committee approves eight investment projects in manufacturing sector

YANGON: The Yangon Region Investment Committee (YRIC) has approved seven foreign enterprises and one joint venture to invest US$12.408 million in the manufacturing sector, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Thursday (Dec 4).

The approvals were made during a YRIC meeting on Nov 26, the report said, adding that these new investments are expected to create 6,786 jobs for locals.

The approved businesses will operate manufacturing of garments, poly resin ornaments, Christmas ornaments, home decorations, ceramics, porcelain figurines, cold cast bronze ornaments, earphone collectibles and accessories on a cutting, making and packaging (CMP) basis and marketing and distribution of various kinds of plastic bags, it said.

The regional investment committee has been endorsing investment projects in accordance with the Myanmar Investment Law to attract investments and create more job opportunities, it added. - Xinhua
