Myanmar announces five cosmetics sold locally, including Chinese-made products, found to contain banned chemicals


YANGON: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Ministry of Health has announced that five types of cosmetics sold domestically, including Chinese-made cosmetics, contain banned chemicals.

The FDA announced that the five types of cosmetics sold domestically were not registered and contained banned chemicals that could pose a health risk, making them unsuitable for public use.

The five cosmetics those include banned chemicals are Chinese-made GQHUDA BEAUTY/18 SHADES FOR BOMB BRONZE LOOKS eye shadow palette, GQHUDA BEAUTY NEW NUDE EYE SHADOW palette, 1 Karite/ Velvet Cheer 3 in 1 Blusher & Highlighter powder and contour, Taiwan-made NYX/ Powder Puff Lippie PPL 01 COOL INTENTIONS, and Chinese-made ANY LADY/ make up palette (Strawberry Joy). The FDA stated that these cosmetics contain Rhodamin B and lead.

The FDA has stated that the banned chemicals can cause skin irritation, swelling, white and red spots, numbness, muscle tremors, fatigue, headaches and depression when absorbed through the skin, as well as kidney damage and other diseases if used for a long time.

The FDA has stated that the import, distribution, and sale of cosmetics that have been declared unfit for use must be strictly prohibited and that if they are not followed, the authorities will take action under Section 3, Sub-Section 3 (d) of the Public Health Law. - Eleven Media/ANN
