New Brunei facilities strengthen radiation safety, emergency preparedness

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) Monday (April 28) launched two radiation facilities in its continuous effort and commitment to enhancing radiation protection and emergency preparedness in Brunei Darussalam.

Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office Datuk Seri Paduka Sufian Sabtu, in his capacity as the Chairman of the SHENA Board of Directors and Acting Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, officiated the launch of the Radiation Dosimetry Service Laboratory (RDSL) and the Gamma Dose Rate Monitoring Station (GDRMS).

SHENA Chief Executive Officer Muhsin Ahmad said the launch of the RDSL for crucial occupational radiation monitoring and the GDRMS for environmental radiation monitoring and early emergency warnings demonstrate SHENA’s commitment to protecting workers and the public from radiation risks. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
