VIENTIANE: Lao Brewery Company (LBC) reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality by celebrating the 115th International Women’s Day with a series of activities aimed at empowering female employees.
On February 27, LBC hosted a ceremony at its headquarters in Vientiane, attended by the Secretary of the Party Committee at LBC, Sithixay Kettavong, along with Managing Director of Lao Brewery Company, Henrik Juel Andersen, and the President of LBC Women’s Union, Vandaly Souvannasouk (pic).
The event brought together company leaders and female representatives for discussions under the theme “Gender Equality, Career Paths, and Leadership of Women in the Company and Society”.
Lao Brewery Co Ltd was established in 1973 and is now a joint venture company owned by the Carlsberg Group and the Lao government. Meanwhile, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are key policies of The Carlsberg Group, aligning with LBC’s ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive workplace.
To mark the occasion, LBC Women’s Union organised a vibrant marketplace featuring food, beverages, and essential supplies, creating a festive atmosphere.
Employees also participated in a discussion forum, sharing experiences and perspectives on professional growth, leadership, and workplace inclusivity.
Speaking at the event, Vandaly emphasised the company’s dedication to equal opportunities, saying “Based on LBC’s policy of promoting gender equality in roles and career advancement, we prioritise women’s participation and recognise their invaluable contributions. Women must continuously develop their skills and talents to achieve success in their careers.”
A highlight of the event was an awards ceremony to honour outstanding female employees, along with a lucky draw to further engage participants.
LBC underscored its commitment to increasing female representation across all sectors, including in traditionally male-dominated areas such as production.
Currently, LBC employs 298 women, accounting for 13 per cent of its workforce, with most in administrative roles. The company provides regular training in line with Carlsberg’s international standards and Lao labour laws to ensure continuous development and equal opportunities for all employees.
Through these initiatives, LBC continues to foster a workplace culture that values diversity and inclusivity, reinforcing its role as a leader in corporate gender equality in Laos. - Vietiane Times/ANN
