Pledge, lion head, Vanda Miss Joaquim join state flag, crest, anthem as Singapore's national symbols

The national pledge will be formally recognised as a national symbol in the same way as the national flower Vanda Miss Joaquim and lion head - ST FILE, MINISTRY OF CULTURE, COMMUNITY AND YOUTH

SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/Asia News Network): The national pledge, national flower Vanda Miss Joaquim, lion head and public seal will be formally recognised as national symbols alongside the state flag, state crest and national anthem, after Parliament passed changes to the law on Tuesday (Sept 13).

The changes provide for more flexibility in how symbols such as the flag can be used, while raising penalties for abuse.
