13 suspects arrested over two gold shop robberies in central Myanmar


YANGON: (Bernama-Xinhua) A total of 13 suspects, including 10 men and three women, have been arrested in connection with two gold shop robberies in central Myanmar's Mandalay region, according to Myanma Alinn on Sunday (Aug 2), reported Xinhua.

In the first case, which occurred on July 20, six men accused of robbing the Millionaire Gold Shop in Chanmyathazi Township, along with five others allegedly involved in the robbery, were arrested, the report said.

The suspects were arrested along with more than 42 ticals (about 0.7 kilogrammes) of gold jewellery, cash, a pistol, two magazines, 27 bullets, four motorcycles, a slingshot and 31 bolts, it said.

During the investigation, three of the six suspects arrested in the first case were found to have also been involved in the robbery of the Paw Oo Gold Shop in Mahaaungmyay Township on Oct. 30, 2023, it said.

The investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects who allegedly collaborated with them in the Paw Oo Gold Shop robbery, it added.

Legal action has been taken against the 13 suspects, while authorities are continue efforts to arrest the remaining suspects, it said. - Bernama-Xinhua
