HK Covid-19 patients can leave hospital sooner under new discharge criteria, freeing up hospital beds amid surge in untraceable cases

Hong Kong coronavirus patients can expect to leave hospital five to seven days earlier following a relaxation of discharge criteria that will free up beds amid a surge in untraceable infections, a government pandemic adviser has said.

The revelation of the rule change came as four more residents at Omicron-hit Kwai Chung Estate tested preliminary-positive on Wednesday – two at Yat Kwai House, and one each at Ying Kwai House and Nga Kwai House. One preliminary-positive case and another with an indeterminate test result were also found during a compulsory testing operation at Tai Hang Tung Estate in Sham Shui Po on Tuesday night.
