BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 28 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Only nine active Covid-19 cases are receiving treatment at Brunei's National Isolation Centre in Tutong District. The country recorded no local transmissions of the virus for 386 days.
However, Brunei reported one imported case of Covid-19 on Thursday night, bringing the national tally to 241.
According to Brunei's Ministry of Health (MoH), the patient is a 43-year-old man who arrived in the country from Manila, the Philippines, on Monday.
The infection had undergone a swab test the day he arrived, and the result was positive.
Further tests conducted on Wednesday showed that the infection is an old transmission and it is very likely to be infected before arriving in Brunei. Therefore, this case is identified as an old infection that is not contagious, and the patient is also classified as an imported case.
With the detection of this case, a total of 100 imported cases have been confirmed since the last local infection case on May 6, 2020. Brunei has recorded 386 days without local Covid-19 infection cases.
There have been three deaths and 229 recovered patients reported from Covid-19 in Brunei.
The MoH obtained 630 samples for testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past 24 hours and carried out 127,264 tests since January 2020.
Some 795 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at government monitoring centres after arriving from abroad while 18,765 have completed their stint since March 2020. - Xinhua
